Welcome to the CyberHoops program, created by Innovation Tech Academy, a 501 (c3) non-for-profit organization.
The CyberHoops program introduces cybersecurity concepts and skills to underrepresented middle and high school students (grades 6-12) using an interactive curriculum and fun basketball activities. The first CyberHoops camp, which will take place in the Summer of 2023, has been fully funded through a GenCyber grant sponsored by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the National Science Foundation (NSF). Innovation Tech Academy would like to continue offering FREE CyberHoops camps to additional students and is currently looking for sponsors to further expand the goal of providing these much needed FREE educational camps to underrepresented students (minorities and women) in cybersecurity.
Hispanics, African Americans and women are vastly underrepresented in the cybersecurity industry. It is the CyberHoops goal to provide opportunities for young students to acquire the interest and skills necessary in order to motivate and inspire them into entering the cybersecurity profession and academia.
The main goals of the CyberHoops program are to:
Teach cybersecurity fundamentals using basketball analogies/activities and various interactive tech tools.
Continue offering the in-person CyberHoops program to underrepresented students throughout the South Florida community.
Create an affiliated program that will allow other schools to run their own CyberHoops program through online resources provided.
Provide mentoring to affiliated members to enhance the delivery of the CyberHoops program in their communities.
The CyberHoops program is currently offered in-person in South Florida, and with your support and contribution can be offered to other cities and states across the United States through affiliated schools.
We need your help to continue this necessary and beneficial program for students to further their opportunities and careers in cybersecurity. Please help Innovation Tech Academy by clicking on the donate button below.
